Tractor Trailer Crashes Into 2 Vehicles After Crossing Median on I-84 in Newtown
I-84 in Newton was closed for over 2 hours (7:30 to 9:45 am) after a tractor trailer heading east crossed the median and crashed into two vehicles heading west. The truck jacknifed and blocked both lanes. According to the state Department of Transportation, westbound lanes between exits 10 and 9 were closed until the accident was cleared around 9:45 am.
Traffic was backed up by 7.5 miles to exit 14. The driver of the 18 wheeler was charged with a misdemeanor for reckless driving and failure to maintain lane.
Connecticut State Police (CSP) later reported that there were no serious injuries.
